Happy Wednesday, Team Forest!
It was a rainy day here in Milton, with very little opportunity for nature walks. We managed to get Maggie, (our adorable three year old Labradoodle) out for a short morning walk, and we noticed so many wildflowers already in bloom!
Spring is here! A time of renewal, and regrowth, as the Earth's axis increases its tilt closer to the sun. Our days get longer, and warmer. Here in Ontario, the astronomical season of Spring, or Springtime, starts on March 21st, and ends on June 21st. It is in these months , that new plant growth SPRINGS forth!
Simon loves to look after his gardens. If several days go by with no rain, he can be seen watering his plants, with care.
The Spring season is marked by increased rainfall, which we have definitely experienced the past few days. It helps to water infant seeds taking root in the ground.
Animals that spent the Winter hibernating, will come out of their dens, and those that travelled to warmer regions, will return. Some will shed their Winter coats, and some may even change color to blend in with their new surroundings.
Rain or shine, Spring is a wonderful time in the forests! Take a walk on the trails. Listen to the raindrops bouncing off the tree branches. Look to see which animals are scurrying about, or popping out of their dens.... just don't forget your umbrella!
