Happy International Children's Book Day!
Every year on April 2nd, we celebrate the amazing world of children's books. Founded in 1967, near Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, many events take place worldwide, featuring children's literature.
Each year, a sponsor Country is chosen to represent this special day! A well known Author and Illustrator from the hosting country, decide on a theme, and are asked to design a poster! This yearly event is amazing, as it promotes books, and reading! Schools and public libraries, hold many activities to celebrate the day.
Japan was chosen to sponsor 2024's International Children's Book Day. Their theme... CROSS THE SEAS ON THE WING OF YOUR IMAGINATION. "Imagination", is the key word for 2024. The belief that fostering imagination, will lead to mutual understanding, and a spirit of tolerance.
To write and illustrate for children, is a privilege, and an honor. Having a fun, brilliant imagination, is a gift! Books can take us anywhere we want to go!
Even to the forest, to find new friends!
